Tsukiji Fish Market - A Behind the Scenes Look

If there is one thing that I recommend doing while in Tokyo, it's making a trip to Tsukiji, the largest fish market in the world. With over 60,000 registered employees, 900 wholesale dealers, and 400 different types of seafood on sale, the market is absolutely unprecedented. Over 700,000 metric tons of seafood are sold at Tsukiji every year, for a value of over 5.5 billion US dollars.

Here are some photos and videos of what goes down at Tsukiji every morning. Included are some exclusive clips of the tuna auctions, which tourists are no longer allowed entrance to due to their nuisance to the workers. Big ups to my friends Aaron and Christain for sneaking in and getting the footage.
