Worshiping at the Altar of Ramen

There was an article in the NY times this week about ramen in New York. Check it out:

Infernal Affairs
A couple of nights ago I watched Infernal Affairs, the Hong Kong based thriller that Martin Scorsese's Academy Award winning The Departed was heavily influenced by. Actually, "heavily influenced" is somewhat of an understatement, the two movies are almost identical minus the difference in settings and actors. If you're a fan of the Scorsese film I would definitely suggest you check this movie out. Watch the trailer below, and you can download the torrent for the film in its entirety here.

Tokyo Rockabilly Club
Legend has it this crew has been around for over 20 years, and they can be seen in Yoyogi park every Sunday. They set up a couple boom boxes, have a few beers, and do their thing to the beats of Buddy Holly, Elvis, and all the old school rock from the 50's.

Here they are in the music video for Peter Bjorn and John - "Nothing to Worry About"

Yaeba - Double Teeth/Crooked Teeth
There is a Japanese blog dedicated to girls with yaeba, or "double teeth/crooked teeth". Not girls whose teeth are completely jacked up, but those who have a slight crookedness which makes them kind of cute. Apparently there is somewhat of a following for girls with yaeba in Japan. Westerners sometimes ask why so many Japanese have busted up smiles, I think Japanese people generally don't see perfect teeth as such an important sign of beauty compared to other places in the world. That being said, enjoy the pics below of girls with yaeba. The Japanese blog has one post in English explaining yaeba which can be viewed here, or click on the following link for the regular site: Yaeba Superstar Blog
